Default eSATA flash drives

I've read plenty of posts that suggest that USB drives are a no-no, particulary for anything below PT9. I understand their write/read speeds just don't cut it for a recording drive.

How about eSATA flash drives? They're reasonably large and cheap now (64GB). It would be handy when I'm doing some mobile recording with the laptop, it would just save me having to carry around my larger eSATA LACIE that requires an AC adapter.

Any thoughts or successes??
