Exclamation Top 10 Problems with Pro Tools 10

Top 10 Problems with Pro Tools 10

$10,000 price tag for HD
Upgrading requires most of the above
Crashes Constantly Anyway
Needs "Avid Qualified Computer"
Lacks Basic Midi Functions
Tech Support cost $$$$
TDM will not play as AAX
All Pro Tools AIR Plug Ins will not play ANYWHERE but within Pro Tools
"Avid Approved Controllers" substandard(Maudio) or Very expensive(Euphonix/Icon)
Still 32bit, despite all the Talk

If Avid could please fix these things that would be great..

Only if you don't know how to price shop.
That's normally how upgrades work
Not on my end
Last I checked all 5 of my AMD systems are not "avid qualified" (they work great)
Basic would be create and playback (PT does both)
I don't work for free, why should they?
Always liked native anyways...(I'm wierd)
I don't use "Avid" plugs. Third party (Minus McDsp and a few others) work in any DAW. Even Reaper.
Never was a solid promise of "64-bit in version 'x'"

Just sayin.

Upgrading requires most of the above and is still worth it
Crashes Constantly Anyway but not here
Needs "Avid Qualified Computer" but mine are not
Lacks Basic Midi Functions has more than basic
Tech Support cost $$$$ as it should
TDM will not play as AAX because the future is coming
All Pro Tools Plug Ins will not play ANYWHERE but within Pro Tools so use 3rd party plugs
"Avid Approved Controllers" substandard or Very expensive arguable
Still 32bit, despite promises 64 is in process

While I agree that things are less than ideal, we are going through one of the most complex transitions since the beginning of digital audio, maybe we should give it a year.

Other than the upgrade price (which for me buying in September hurt) I don't see a big problem with PT. I'm a it concerned about the muting track business that's happening to some but if you think about it, the only choice was some half baked 32 bit bridge or a clean slate.

I'm happy their going with a clean slate. Will be much better in the end.

BTW, don't shop for PT on the web and you'll find much better pricing.

1- Sheehs only 10 k for HDx with I/O that is more powerful than a HD 3 system +I/O at 16+ K we're so getting ripped off for paying less for better.

2- Upgrading for most any software, often requires more powerful computers.

3- Crashes constantly if you buy junk. Pay attention, do the optimization and it's rock solid. Using pt 10 on the same system I was using my older versions = 0 crash yet of pt 10. And my old version very seldom crashed anyways.

4- NO, need simply not to buy junk., There's more than enough templates of working configs on this forum alone.

5- true, but it was never a midi sequencer in the first place, and still today even if they did put new midi tools, it's still not a sequencer primordially but an audio recording and editing utility tool.

6- Yes like a lot of companies out there that doesn't have monthly incomes related to product of services. Oh wait, apples makes monthly incomes for their iphone services, and they still charge money for support plans.

7- Yes thank god it wont, else we would still be stuck with the same problems.

8- Damn mate, you must be smoking some good ones. Cause 9/10th of the plugins of pro tools are made by third parties who make vst version of their plugins. It's only the small numbers of plugins made by avid that are not.

9- Compared to a lot of controllers out there, I think some from avid might need a price raise as they are still better. Icons and euphonix are still on the top of the list for integration into a daw. Oh and lets not forget that M-audio which belongs to Avid, actually makes their control surfaces that can work with cubase and logic.... that says lots.

10- I was one of the person saying not to get on your high horses, when people started talking of pt 10 and that it was going to be 64 bit. Avid never made that promise, it's people like you, I guess, that got in their heads that it was going to be, without any proof to back it up. So no promises were broken, just fools hope without base. Now Avid did announce that PT 10 was the last 32 bit version of PT. And as past experience calls with their video editing software, when they announce it, they do it.

11- Maybe it's time for a lot of people to actually start asking themselves why the keep coming here if they are obviously so displeased with the company, products or themselves.

You made no constructive arguments, you just throw feces on the wall and see what sticks

You remind me of MixerMan, and I think you should be treated as such

Well - I have 2 systems side by side 8 LE and 10 - very plugin heavy songs that would almost crash 8 LE - runs super smooth in 10 - I even put 10 on a cheap gateway i3 laptop - songs on the system drive (5400 RPM) full of NI plugins - I can pop open these plugins while songs are playing and it still runs!!!! Including NI KORE 2 (the biggest CPU crasher made) - the new MOD 3 delay is great and so is the channel strip - So in my opinion LOTS have changed and LOTS have been fixed.

Entry price bothered me - until I used it.
