24 analog inputs on an HD I/O?

OK, I just reread Mikes post and I did miss read it but Mike is wrong that an ADAT bridge would be 32 IO of analog
the ADAT bridge would need AD and DA converters hung off of them
one could hang a pair of 888|24s off the legacy port for analog IO but the legacy port can be temperamental

Boy we could go around here forever with sloppy terminology. You are absolutely correct a HD IO or a 192 IO has a total of 32 IOs. Craig F. confusingly started referring to IO when he means either IO inputs or outputs not total IOs. Sigh.

So for any confused new folks, HD IO is 16 inputs and 16 outputs max. You stick another one on a digilink chain and get another 16 inputs and 16 outputs.

And a digilink cable has an total of 32 inputs and 32 outputs max. (so for example if you want 64 input on a MADI IO for it takes two primary digilink connections).

If you utilize the legacy port you will
Have up to 32 IO per each 192

The legacy port disables the digilink expansion port
So it kills a second 192 or 96 attached to a expansion port

So with the legacy port it is possible to have 32 IO with 1 digilink cable

Legacy port > digi8 "y" cable > 2 888/24 = 32 inputs 32 outputs
