Default FIREWIRE DRIVE...WHATS THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF CACHE?

I have a (NEW) 2.0 G5, and a 002...I'm getting a firewire drive and need to know whats the optimum # of mb for the cache buffer???

the more the better. 8 mb is as muc as I've seen.

From what I've read, it doesn't matter much for PT performance. Personally I like Seagate for their 5 year warranty across the board. Western Digital used to have 3 yr warranty for all 8 MB drives, but they dropped it on their retail ones. If you buy an OEM Western Digital drive, like from newegg, you still get a 3 yr warranty.

As far as performance, check out StorageReview.com They have a ton of info. If you're not putting a drive together yourself, and just buying, I recommend WiebeTech. Many people have had good luck w/ OWC as well, but I think WiebeTech enclosures are better.

BTW, there are some Maxtor drives that come with 16 MB cache!
