Default Cannot hear what is being recorded in headphones

I am a new Pro Tools user and am having a problem when recording. I have a digi 002, Command 8 and Pro Tools 7.3 Le and am using iMac Intel.

When I start up for the first and open a session and record enable a track it I can hear what is being recorded fine in my headphone. I can also record normally and play back normally.

However as soon as I close that session and open a new one and try to record I cannot hear myself in the headphone. I can see that the signal is going through and if I record I can playback what was recorded normally. I cannot hear myself in the headphones though.

If I go back to the original session that I first opened upon starting the computer I now cannot hear myself in the headphone when I record enable the same track I started with.

Strange and frustrating.

Once I restart the iMac and open the original session I can then hear myself in the headphone when I record enable a track.

Any answers?

Default Re: Cannot hear what is being recorded in headphones

are you talking about the use of Auto Input Monitoring/Input Only Monitoring? (which I think can be toggled by option+K) Where you can hear yourself through your headphones before you press record? Or vice versa... But when you hit record you can't hear yourself. The post is very confusing. If you are still checking this post can you give more info?

Also, when you start up ProTools, it defaults to 'MUTE' on the 002. Check that the red Mute light is not active (top right).
