Any suggestions or thoughts?
if you can get to PT9 you can use Any Interface !! PT10 would be the best choice imho ... still does SD2 and it a closer bridge to 11 and 12 than PT8 ..

but let me say this .. it should be fairly cheap to get a PT8 LE with Mbox2 rig running .. !!! right on ... i still have a 2012 Macpro that can take back to snow leopard Boot drives !! going to miss that when it / if it goes ...

what operating system are you thinking of running ??? i saw mentioned 10.7.5 Lion ...

10.6.8 is snow leopard ... that was a good system ...

a few years back i had to open OS9 system applications and transfer old session for a Client .. man it took a long time to get a older mac G3 or G4 to run it .. and then get it installed and working .. days of prep .. hard drive not working right, OS not opening fully sometimes, that was fun .. all those PRAM blast and Open Firmware Resets, resetting ram modules, Pre-USB so everything had to be Mac Serial Port or some adapter ... now add i needed to have an old JAZ Drive too !!! that was another driver nightmare after ordering 3 of them to get one Working One on ebay !!

not sure but i may have some older files laying around that might help once you get into it .. i did a pretty good house cleaning not too long ago but might have something useful ..

cheers and good luck !!

Yikes - I had a Jaz drive as well as the Iomega ZIP. Both were plagued by defective design that "infected" disks with a skip that would then damage any drive they were put into, which would then damage any discs inserted in them, and so on. Considering that Zip and Jaz drives were the predominant way of sharing large files back then, no wonder they had such a large lawsuit - and why it took so long to find a working one... I lost 2GB of Jaz discs back when that was a lot...
