I am not employed by Avid just to be clear. I am a user just like everyone here and that is my own opinion and has nothing to do with Avids roadmaps as no one here are my customers, you guys are my friends and peers and beeing a Moderator we are not employed by Avid or paid to work here. We do this to help and make the forum a better place but when something feels wrong to ME I say that as a member of the forum like you guys and as a customer of Avid like you.

This is a peer to peer forum and my part on the forum which I do on my spare time is to help and get help too as I also have pro tools and some of these new options doesn’t seem fair again IMHO. I am also one of those who paid thousands for their PT HD license so thats why I said what I did and it was IMHO as a user of PT just like ya’ll ..

And everyone is free to make up their own minds what fits them and research what these new deals are and how they work and certainly not be influenced by me and my own opinions.

However I think you are correct in your assessment of the situation.
I think Avid has found yet another way to bully their customers, that in itself should be reason enough not to play along. If the majority said no Avid would quickly change their tune. Unfortunately I don't think this will happen and Avid will have their way as in the past.

The "perpetual" license isn't perpetual, unless your hardware and OS were perpetual too. And modern day OSes stop working reliably on newer hardware whilst pulling features against which old software was developed. Maybe more thought goes into Windows in that regard, but as far as I know this industry still has a very considerable Mac base. macOS's recent shift to block 32 bit code is a more obvious example, app nap (remember it?) is another, there are numerous less obvious ones.

It's a hidden subscription. Arguably it has exceptions.

I disagree with the above
The Avid subscription model ends and the software stops working!
Perpetual can at least age with the system.
