Default MIDI Latency in 12.7.1

I've seen many posts about this, but no workaround or solution yet.
When I started my session, there was no latency whatsoever (using a small USB MIDI keyboard), playing and recording all day, no prob.

One day and many dubs later I decided to redo some MIDI and for sure: latency! Buffer size or enabling 'Delay Compensation' for either sound or MIDI doesn't do a thing. The only thing that is different is that there are plugins active now, so calculation is off somewhere.
This is not workable and it's driving me nuts: losing time here Avid.

What can be done?!

EDIT: when I disable all plugins except the VI, there's no latency. So this bug is back and needs squashing soon!

I got a text from our studio last night about the same. It looks like, yet again this bug is back with 12.7.1 at least on our HDX rig.

Can anyone advise the best way to revert to 12.7 ?

I see just want to be shure that you talked about the setting in the main preferences panel specefic for midi . I think there are 3 options there for this . Did you tried all ?

Can and might do. But I'm trying to catch a deadline, no time for beta-testing and setting everything up from scratch.
I know it is a known bug since it has resurfaced on the boards recently.
If trashing the prefs would be the solution, than I would have done that immediately.

Sorry to hear that my friend .

Trashing databases and preferences is a basic troubleshooting for protools strange behaviors .
It doesnt take you minute to do it and it doesnt hurt trying . May you try ?
Ive use Protools and do a lot of midi work too and doesnt have that " bug " so im trying to help you here . You can use the protools trasher app . It does it for you really fast . Is made by guitardom a very talented user here .

Hope this helps i know what it is to be in a dead line project ! :-/

Just in case this are the midi latency i was talking about .

Delay Compensation for External Devices Options

These options only apply when a Delay Compen- sation Engine is selected in the Playback Engine and Delay Compensation is enabled in ProTools.

MIDI Timecode

When selected, Pro Tools applies Delay Compensation to Pro Tools-generated MIDI Timecode (MTC). Enable this option when synchronizing video to Pro Tools using MTC.

MIDI Beat Clock

When selected, Pro Tools applies Delay Compensation to Pro Tools-generated MIDI Beat Clock.

MIDI Notes and Controllers

When selected, ProTools applies Delay Compensation to MIDI notes and MIDI controller data. This is useful when monitoring playback or when recording in- put from external MIDI devices.

The only time i remember seeing that
in my system was one of this setting . At least on my system .

Protools Trasher App
