hi!

I´m also a newbie to mac. I got my macbook yesterday (5 minutes and you love it ), but before I`m able to start recording I have to buy some firewire drives -> also new to me. Maybe it sounds a bit stupid to you, but what is "daisychainig"?

thx
Andi

Get yourself a Glyph Drive. Oxford Bridging Chip 911, or 912 (i believe they work now). Fast as possible, preferable 7200rpm. You can get away with one drive for now and update later, or if you wanna get both, just get two of the same or there is this one model where you can fit 3 in a single rack space...very good units!

I use them here at my home studio and this other Professional HD studio I'm doing work at uses them as well!

Hi Andi,

You can record to the system drive--just not well or reliably. You'll want to get another drive for maximum performance and capacity. "Daisy-chain" means to plug your first FW drive into the computer, then that drive to the next, etc., etc.--creating a "chain" of drives.
