Default Re: HD9 crashes when connecting to DSI...

Updated BIOS to 2.38 (latest version)
Removed the NVIDIA and inserted a simple ATI 4650 DVI/HDMI
Deleted prefs and databases

Again: CRASH!

Completely uninstalled Pro Tools and all Visual C++ Redistributables.
Cleaned the registry (with a utility named "tuneup utilities")
Reinstalled PT9 (should bring back the original C++ installations)

Again: CRASH!

not very happy.

Have you tested this with just the core card installed or, with just the core card installed, moving the core card to a different slot?

No, not yet.

In the meantime I´ve set up the workstation completely new with Win7/32bit, installed QT and did all Windows Updates, then installed PT9 HD and all plug-ins. Tomorrow I´ll insert the cards and hope it will work.

I think, that the problem has to do with Windows Updates of the
64bit Visual C++ Runtimes (2005/2008), because after the first Windows Installation (just Windows [no auto-updates] and QuickTime), Pro Tools started normally. After Windows Updates and PlugIns installations the drama began.

X fingers for tomorrow´s test run.

Default Re: HD9 crashes when connecting to DSI... SOLVED!!!

Well, it works now! 32bit is the key!

conclusio:
wasted time: XW8400 + Win7/64bit + ProTools HD9 + ProTools PCI cards.

BTW: BIOS V 2.38 seems to be ok!

@tech support:
Thank you for your help, I personally think, that HP xw8400 is, generally said, not THE machine to go for, when working in a complex 64bit environment.

Best Regards

On both of my machines here (one is a 2008 Dual Quad MacPro, the other is Gigabyte Sandybridge i7-2600 EasyBeast machine), I've had nothing but problems when MacOS is running in 64 Bit kernel. Both machines are rockin' when booted in 32 Bit kernel.

The MacPro machine will accept the sudo command to boot in arch=i386 but for some reason, I cannot get the hack install to accept the (sticky) 32 bit boot. We have to interrupt the boot process during backwards progress indicator, and manually enter the 'arch=i386' boot.

No worries about English, you're doing fine!

1. Are you booting in 32Bit Kernel or 64Bit Kernel (OS Version?)

2. Have you tried with JUST the Core card in the computer / chassis?

3. Have you tried booting with NOTHING in the Plug Ins folder, except the Stereo Mixer plugin?

4. Have you run DigiTest?

5. Have you tried starting up with only one interface connected?

6. Have you tried a different DigiLink cable between the Core Card and the Interface?

Let us know your results, ok?
Cheers, eh?

Thanks for the advice, but of course, they have done it.
The system with Win XP 32bit works perfectly.
My problem is exactly the same as the first post, PT 9 Win7 64bit does not work.
