using a HD I/O 16x16 without protools?

Hey Guys.

I have a Avid HD I/O 16x16 in the studio I'd like to run using my 15" macbook pro retina running osx 10.12 and a Magma Thunderbolt 2 Expansion Chassis for the PCIE card.

I can't figure out how to install the drivers for it.

I've spent days researching and I feel like i've been going in circles.

Do i have to buy the full version of pro tools HD if i just want to use the soundcard?? please tell me i can just download drivers somewhere and get some audio going out of Logic or ableton. Any help would be so greatly appreciated.

You have to own the full version of Pro Tools HD and have the Digilink license.

And an HD Native pcie card or HDX card. Not the older core or accel cards.

I’m not sure how you end up spending days on this, just about every Google search for anything related to CoreAudio HD drivers leads here... http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...nload/en379411 Read that info.

And what exact PCIe card? Hopefully you mean PCIe native card....as already said TDM cards will not work in a Thunderbolt expansion box. But toss that idea anyway and just buy a HD Thunderbolt box used on EBay, much smaller/easier.
