Anybody using Garritan Personal Orchestra?
Hi all, a combination of SOS dropping through the lteerbox this morning and a long standing desire to get an Orchestral plugin on a budget leads me to create this post.
Just interested to know if this plays nice with Pro Tools and if it's stable. I haven't had much luck with NI gear in the past and this is hosted using Kontakt. I've had alook at some of the alternatives and this sounds the most realistic i've heard so far. Cheers

Re: Anybody using Garritan Personal Orchestra?
Hello
I own GPO, JABB and COMB. They work nicely with PTLE 7,3 I haven't tried how it works with 7,4 yet. The problem that I had before was, it drains a lot of ram. But back then I was using a PPC G5 single 1,8 w/ 4GB Ram only. So with a more powerful computer, i'm sure it'll work better. Hope this helps! |

Re: Anybody using Garritan Personal Orchestra?
I hate GPO. I have it, and never use it. Firstly, the samples are 16 bit.
My choice (for quality meets budget) is MOTU's Orchesteral Instrument. It's worlds better sounding than GPO.

Re: Anybody using Garritan Personal Orchestra?
I use GPO and like it a lot. I haven't heard a ton of different programs, but GPO sounds damn credible to me, and you can't beat the price. To get the sound right depends a lot on the performance and using the program in the most advantageous manner, manipulating attack and other such perameters.
I haven't experienced technical issues with GPO. PC

Re: Anybody using Garritan Personal Orchestra?
Hey man, used it on a record last week. REALLY IMPRESSIVE! 16bit done RIGHT beats 24 done WRONG. I had to pick up a copy for our studios.
For the Money its SICK. |

Re: Anybody using Garritan Personal Orchestra?
I have GPO and JABB...much better now with Kontakt Player 2...you will need a lot of RAM and a fast processor.
It works better on Windows I believe but it is much improved now for Mac over a couple years ago, and especially good on an Intel. Good luck. I do not use it much ( although I should be......I have been lazy ) but the possibilities in the hands of a good programmer are amazing. Go listen to the samples...scores done on GPO, at the GPO site. I also have Sibelius 5 and they work together well.
