Default Mac Pro (early 2008) 2x2,8 Ghz Quad-Core with PT12

Hi all,

I would like to know if i can run PT 12.5 using a Digi 003 Console as an interface in this comp;

Mac Pro (early 2008)
2x2,8Ghz Quad-core Intel Xeon
Memory (i have to buy it yet)
Graphics NVIDIA GeForxe 8800 GT 512 Mb
1Tb Sata Disk (i have other disk available )

I mainly record, and mix .

Must know to decide if i buy it from a friend or not and make the great jump from PC to Mac

Thank you in advance

Well, consider a few things;
1-the jump to Mac is not "great" as both platforms are totally capable of excellent performance, IF you choose OS and PT version wisely, and IF you choose the right parts(for a computer build, be it PC or Hackintosh)
2-the 003 is no longer supported, but appears to still work for many users. But it is possible that the control surface won't work(if you can live without the control surface and the price is right, go for it).
3-not sure what version that Mac is(3,1 or 4,1 or 5,1) and that could be a big deal(I'm a PC guy so I can't offer best advice in this case)

The main question is will i be able to run PT12 (whatever version) thru DIgi 003 Console in this Mac. And when i say running i mean mid to large sessions with around 30+ audio tracks, VI's (Kontakt, SD2, etc...) and plugins as i record and mix too in a stable way ?

Well, that's a humbling endorsement. Thanks Chris, even I don't deserve it.

I have been in contact with him.

FYI 003 works fine here with PT12, but an even better option if you have another interface ...

1) Launch PT with your other interface selected in the playback engine,
2) Switch the playback engine to 003,
3) Switch the playback engine to the other interface.

Result .... the other interface works as your i/o ... and all the control surface features of the 003 remain active and functional. Just do that each time you launch PT to use this functionality.

I'm using a UAD Apollo as my main PT interface these days, but I also still use my MOTU rig when I need more analog inputs. I'm delighted that my 003 still functions as a control surface with either audio interface.

We sorted it out, it was tied to his Waves Plugins.

I realize I'm reactivating an old thread, but does this latest post mean the OP got PT 12.5 working on his early 2008 Mac Pro 3,1?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.
