Default volume

need some help here, when i mix my sessions, they come out sounding great. all songs are balanced with each other, etc. but they are real quiet. i have to turn my speakers up quite a bit on a stereo to get good volume. but like i said, all songs are balanced. anyone know any way around this?

here is the cheap way of doing it. Put a compressor on the master fader, then turn the gain output up til it gets right up to the zero line without clipping or distortion. I had the same problem then i started doing this and have not had any problems since. Just be careful with it, make sure to monitor the whole song before saving.

Was having the same problem, then started putting compression on the master fader.

But what is the not-cheap way?

Have the song mastered by a competent mastering engineer...beware the pretenders...
