Ton of GUI lag here too. I thought it may be related to the S6 I recently installed, but it seems not.
OS 10.10.5
12-core MacPro
28 GB ram
ProTools HD 12.8.2

@Wildhoney and others with Yosemite - The lagging is why that OS is unsupported and basically not working at all so the option is to go to Sierra as Avid have no more support for Yosemite as it broke in 12.8.2.

It is "sad but true" that Yosemite is dead as it was a pretty stable and fine piece of OS version ( yes Metallica quote there ) but gotta say MacOS Sierra is working great here and i think it will only get better.

Thanks for pointing this out. I didn't realize I'd lost 10.10 support. Is it worth going to 10.11 or better to just go to 10.12?

Elcap is a dog so I would go to 10.12.6 straight as High Sierra will probably be a while longer and need to be stable with both PT and third party software.

So IMHO MacOS Sierra 10.12.5 and 10.12.6 works great for most members I have seen here.

Just make sure everything is backed up "IF" something goes awry with either install or afterwards with your system and you can go back and work intil you ironed out what happened.

Thanks. I see there's a 10.12.6 combo update still available for download. Is that all I'd need to get from 10.10 to 10.12 you think?

Thats the installer we ran and worked as advertized so I would say yes to that.

If you want a clean install (as you should) you can grab the full installer here:

That worked aswell. I still am unsuure what the difference is between a combo and full installer .. we have done the one that we found first so basically every other update is a combo so if anyone can explain in short what and why there are two installer options I would really appreciate it
