Default Selecting playback area

This might be a silly question but I can't click on the track in where the audio/midi is and playback from where I selected??? Why?

So I tried this and it was already selected. It doesn't start from where I select. I have to go up to the ruler and double click there and then the blue arrows move and I can press play...... But not when I select in a track s waveform

You probably have deselected "Link Timeline and Edit Selection".
