Default Can you run PT HD on UAD cards
I`m new to Pro Tools and never actually saw a PT HD Running live but from what I saw o the web it`s the top software from Avid. So do you need tu use the AVID hardware to run a HD or HDX

PTHD is both software and hardware.

The software side can run on any hardware (even built in Mac audio), but the hardware part requires either an HD Native PCIe card or Thunderbolt Native box, or an HDX DSP card.

So you can run PTHD software with an Apollo but it's not like running it with an HDX card that uses its DSP. So, the short answer is no, you cannot run HD on UA "cards".

To me, this is a huge miss for Avid. Everyone I know says UAD have not only the best soundjng, but are the very best at emulating the gear they represent. Considering not very many plugin manufacturing companies embraced Avid’s new architecture, just plain stupid on Avid’s part, IMHO!

Nope, if you have a Merging HAPI or Horus, or a Focsurite RED or a DAD AX32 with a MiniDigilink port, then you can run an HD|Native or an HDX card(s) with ProTools HD using 3rd party interfaces, which sound better than the HD I/O range.

No. 32 per digilink i/o port but 64 per device (because things like the DADAX32 and Focusrite Red have two primary digilink connectors just like an Avid MADI i/o.) Plus, that's the max per HDX or Native card.

Nope, since you are using a mini digilink port, it's still 64 I/O per board, so 64 I/O on HD|Native, and up to 192 using an HDX 3.
