Default Distorted Playback from mbox

I have been trying for 2 weeks to get Pro-tools to run on my laptop. I have jumped a few hurtles thus far only to get slapped in the face by my latest issue. Having finally got it installed and operating I loaded a session up and put on my headphones, but the playback was completely distorted. I should mention I am running Windows 7 in 64bit which I am guessing is in someway the issue. Before everyone jumps on me telling me to download the 64bit public beta audio drivers, you should know I have done so. And for the next group that will still say I did it wrong... I didnt, I installed the driver AFTER installing Pro-tools. Also I should mention I downloaded the upgrade to 8.0.3. LE. Anyone have any suggestions? I am really hoping to get help here, Digi's "technical support line" isnt particularly helpful....

without a Sandra report, no one can give any decent advice(other than to install XP). We don't know if your computer is at all compatible and don't know if you have a proper recording drive.

A listing of reasons upon installation playback would be distorted would be a good place to start. I am sure a conversation can be had without a hard list of specs. Even when solving my previous issues giving a load of tech information to digi got me nowhere.
