Default Pro Tools 11 freezes when trying to use several tools

Hi, I was wondering if someone could help me.

Here's the problem...

I recently bought Pro Tools 11 and installed it on my Mac Mini (specs on signature) and have encountered several issues.

1. I can't use AudioSuite (Preview or Render) without it freezing.
(My mouse turns into the spinning wheel and stays that way). I have to force quit the app and lose any unsaved work.

2. I can't modify fades (Command + F or double-clicking a fade don't work). I can create them but not modify them.
(Again, my mouse turns into the spinning wheel and stays that way). I have to force quit the app and lose any unsaved work.

3. I can't consolidate clips.
(Yet again, my mouse turns into the spinning wheel and stays that way). I have to force quit the app and lose any unsaved work.

I am currently on a deadline and using a lot of AudioSuite Pitch Shift for sound design but I can't work because of these issues.

I have no third-party plug-ins, I reinstalled Pro Tools but it did not help.

Does anybody have a clue as to why this is happening?
What could I do to try and fix these problems?
I'm very confused and frustrated.

I upgraded from Pro Tools 10 since it's no longer compatible with Yosemite and I never had issues like these.

Thanks in advance!

I'm not a troubleshooting guru, but this does look like a disk permissions thing to me. These tools all look like they're trying to write to the drive when they freeze up...

As I wrote on my signature, I have 16 GB of DDR3 RAM.

Forgive me if I don't follow when you say I need to check all my permissions; how can I do this?

Thanks again!

I know Disk Utility can repair permissions to a certain extent...Its one of the things Avid officially recommends...Not sure how to get more in-depth with it on OSX...

Disk Utility should be under "Utiltities" or "Other" in your F4 menu...Select your system drive on the left then select "repair disk permissions".

I have done this with no success, I verified and repaired my hard drive but Pro Tools is still not working properly. I also deleted my Pro Tools preferences (so it could generate a new preferences file) but it didn't seem to do anything either.

One thing I noticed that changed from using Pro Tools 10, to Pro tools 11, is that whenever I opened Pro Tools 10, A dialogue box came up asking me if I wanted Pro Tools to accept incoming network. This dialogue box has never appeared on my Pro Tools 11.

Hi,
I've just read your post, and I had the same problem.

My question is, are you working on an external drive ?

Because I was, and had finally copied my work on my computer's HD, and no more problems with audiosuite.

I hope this could help you.

#1 - Repair Disk or Repair Permissions ?? just want to be clear for everyone here ..

#2 - Tossed Preferences - did you use the Pro Tools Pref's Helper at the Top of the Main Page here ?? or did you do it by hand ?? one at a time ?? did you get everything ??

#3 - you did not need to get rid of PT10 to Load up PT11 - they will play fine on the same computer (just not at the same time of course)

unless i missed something what happened to PT10 ?? ....

#4 - you should be happy that Network Box is not coming up .

#5 - If you are Truly on Deadline, then it was silly to be upgrading a computer while working on a project -- Yes ?? enough said about that ..

MalAss .. most people use an External or secondary drive for their Projects .. sorry to hear you cannot .. could not hurt to try though ..

cheers john

Hi

Yes you're true, use an external drive is really recommended.

But I've forgot to precise that I'm using an USB 3 hard drive in exFat format.
Am I the only one that make some problems ?

exFAT is your issue; you need to reformat that drive to standard OSX format.
