OT?: For you guys that have put an SSD in a new Mac Pro
What adaptor did you use to mount the 2.5" drive in the 3.5" sled?
The one form OWC or something else? Thanks Craig

Re: OT?: For you guys that have put an SSD in a new Mac Pro
The Mac Pro actually has an extra SATA plug in the area where the DVD drive is (this is for installing second extra DVD drive). If you are not using a second DVD drive, you can just plug your SSD in there. It works great, and it is very convenient.
If you have second DVD drive or for some reason don't want to use that SATA plug, you can buy a 2.5" drive sled from from OWC. http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other...ting/MMP35T25/ -Parry |

Re: OT?: For you guys that have put an SSD in a new Mac Pro
PCI slot is not available
I know about the OWC sled but my boss cries when ever he has to spend a doller so if I could find a tray adaptor for ~$5 instead of the $20 for the OWC sled.. I mistakenly assumed the new Mac Pros would take a 2.5" w/o anything extra but now I know better. Second optical might work but I'm in earthquake country, I don't like the idea of unsecured parts but, I'll look into it.

A lot of SSD's come with 2.5" to 3.5" adapters. I have one in my rig now. They're nothing too special. And I would assume they'd work with the Mac pro 3.5" sleds. Maybe you can find a friend with one lying around?

Re: OT?: For you guys that have put an SSD in a new Mac Pro
it did come with the 3.5" tray but only for side mounting to top/bottom
but the tray did work in the lower optical bay so I'm good thanks for the ideas

SSD drive for audio being written to it? Performance issues?
