Mbox 3 Pro driver causing blue screen on wake (Windows 8.1)
Pretty self explanatory... if my interface is on when my computer goes to sleep, if I wake my computer back up it will throw a blue screen within a few minutes and it always lists the Mbox driver as the cause.
I can turn off the interface before waking it up and then wait until the computer is on to turn the interface back on, but it's a little ridiculous that I have to do that every time. No DAW usage in this case... this is likely just a driver issue that needs to be fixed for windows 8.1 compatibility. Has anyone else experienced this? |

Hi and Welcome to the Community
Regarding the Sleep Mode you should NEVER use Sleep mode dor Pro tools ever. It is even stated on Avids website that using any kind of power saving mode is a NoNo. So turn OFF all of the power saving modes and see if that makes the issues go away. Best Regards Christopher

Re: Mbox 3 Pro driver causing blue screen on wake (Windows 8.1)
Hi Christopher,
Thanks for the response, but as I mentioned, this is unrelated to any DAW usage (I only have a DAW on my Mac partition). I actually don't even use ProTools. Does Avid's statement extend to non-ProTools/DAW use? That seems sort of like a cop-out... it's one thing if it's a problem with ProTools/Mbox and sleep mode, but this comes down to an incomplete driver state machine. Dylan |

Re: Mbox 3 Pro driver causing blue screen on wake (Windows 8.1)
As far as we have been told over the years with PT, Cubase, Logic, Studio One and others is that Sleep Mode should never be used when using the computer with music related gear and functions. The sleep mode can mess with drivers, re-boot up, DAW's and other software so I would try and shut that off and see if it helps,
Best Regards Christopher

Re: Mbox 3 Pro driver causing blue screen on wake (Windows 8.1)
Yes, the sleep/hibernate issue is with the hardware, not Pro Tools. So even if you're just using the Mbox as your Windows audio device you should disable sleep/hibernate.
This is a good KB article to go through, and includes disabling power saving features:http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...-Optimizations Joel
