Sound output assign?

OK , stupid question, but... I'm running T Racks 3 as standalone, want to listen through my monitors instead of computer speakers. I select Digidesign HW in sound menu but it won't "assign". (like there should be an "apply change" button or something) What am I not doing right?

Also, if anyone can enlighten me, I seem to recalll that when I have successfully done this in the past, I had a little issue (can't recall the details), something to do with not being able to locate my Digi HW after I reverted back to outputting computer sound out the speakers. Something to do with Core Audio Driver? Can anyone explain to me what goes on there?

Hey Jim, how's it going? The CORE AUDIO driver certainly could be better implemented, but you're confusing it by switching it back and forth. Just pull up the plugin within ProToolsLE instead of stand-alone----you're a lot better off doing it that way for quite a few reasons......just working, having access to other plugins, playlists, pre-sets, etc.

My reason for wanting to use it standalone is I can hardly use it at all in PT as it creates CPU chaos. Someone said my dual 2.66 is the problem- I'm sort of stunned to hear that. I'm still trying to find out if there's something I'm not doing to reduce the CPU stress. But I've never had a sniff of CPU issues prior to this.

Anyway, I know I've run Itunes through PT before to listen in my monitors. For some reason I'm not getting it to go this time.

I installed PT 8 on a new HD and upgraded from 10.4 to Leopard. I still have Itunes on the 10.4 drive, that works assigning sound to 002r. I just noticed on my Leopard/PT drive, the sound output box says "device has no output controls". How do I set output controls for 002r in this situation?
