Default Protools Control and Command 8?

Will this work side by side with my old Command 8, or is it an "either or" proposition?

Hey Neale,

Yes it will as EUCON and MIDI Controllers can be declared simultaneously in Pro Tools.

Great, thanks. Other third party iPad control apps would not allow this, so I wanted the clarification.

But: both surfaces (iPad and C8) may control the same tracks at a time. It's not a arranged co-working of both but it works. Mark

Other third-party iOS control apps would DISABLE the Command 8 entirely. From my faulty memory, you could only pick one or the other. Hopefully you will not be using Control and the Command 8 to do contrary things on the same trackbut my question was related to being able to ONLY enable one or the other in PT preferences. Nice that both of these can be concurrently enabled, if nothing else so I can remote arm tracks and use transport controls in Control, then go back to my mix position and use the physical faders on my Command 8 for mixing, without having to rejig preferences back and forth.

Hm.

I usually just use my screen metering, but noticed the other day that my Command 8 metering was gone. On a whim, I tried disabling EUCON in peripherals - meters are back.

PT 12 latest version, latest EUCON software, Mac OS 10.10.5.

Can we get this fixed even though the C8 is EOL'ed?

That's the way midi controllers work with eucon controllers. No metering while used together. Not a bug it's by design

I know that the Command 8 is "technically" a MIDI controller, but I am using it PT (not stand-alone) mode. Would that make a difference in the limitation? Kyle has also been made aware of this, and perhaps I am reading his PM to me incorrectly, but he seemed surprised at this development.

Indeed, sir. Kyle has confirmed that with a MIDI device and EUCON enabled, the EUCON device gets the metering priority. If it's not a bug, I don't like the design, not in my workflow.

Oh well.

With no plugin control in the "Control" app, I'll just stick to the Command 8 with its metering and "flip" mode. Plus it has physical faders for automation. Maybe I'm just too old for new tech.
