Follow up please
Digi 003 factory w\pro tools 7.4cs8
I am the guy who was running RAID without realizing that it was causing issues. Thanks for your help everyone, and I want your advice as a follow-up. After dis-abling RAID, I have had no issues with new sessions, but the one session I built in the RAID config. still crashes as it is loading. The session was just experimental and I don't have any problem deleting it *but*... is this a symptom of a larger hidden problem or do you think that it is just a artifact of RAID? I have a new power supply coming along with memory and a video card, all things that my IT guy says may cause the I_R_Q_L error, and I don't mind replacing these things if you experts say that they could still be the issue. I am about to start a major project, which is why I upgraded from a working PT version 6 with an M-box to a larger and more powerful system so I want to shoot down as many problems as I can before I am neck deep in vocal comps and have a preventable catastrophic failure. Please weigh in, I really need to do this right. My SANDRA report is in the "re-boot issue" thread. Thanks in advance, any help would be so appreciated. |

Re: Follow up please
It may cut down the "turn around" time if you "re-post" Sandra here.

Have you tried creating a new session at the same bit depth/sample rate and using Import Session Data to see if you can't recover some or all the tracks from that session? |

Re: Follow up please
Further advice would be, once you get a stable system, use Acronis True Image Home or Norton Ghost or similar to make a backup of your system drive, just in case something goes south. Also, have Auto Backup on in Pro Tools for your sessions and make backups with Acronis, Ghost or similar of your Audio drive on a regular basis.
Cheers.

Re: Follow up please
That is a big relief. I will install a ghost. As to recovering those files, I don't care about them. They were just some loops that I was using to get used to the new system. Thanks again, and hopefully I won't be posting here any more, at least not with problems.
