Default S5MC Power Supply Alarm?

Hi, I just returned from a couple days away, where I had my whole 32 fader S5MC system shut down at the power strip (that is, in front of the S5MC's power supply. When I powered it up, I heard a faint noise coming from the the unit that I've traced back to the MC's power supply. The noise stops when the MC is shut down, or when its restarting, and only fully comes back once the whole system is back up and running. Otherwise, operation seems to be normal.

I'm wondering if it's some kind of an alarm, maybe a fan alarm? Anyone else experienced this?

Thanks!
Matt

There is a small (but quite noisy) fan inside the MC Pro's PSU, but I don't know about the CM408T's PSU's.
Maybe it just got dirty while it was not being used?! Try cleaning it first?!

Niek/ Amsterdam.

Modifying MC power supply to resolve MC Checkerboard TFT.pdf

The only thing we can suggest is to check the voltage using this doc. Be careful.

Thanks for this, Eddie.

This morning, after letting the system run all night, the sound has stopped. So I'm not sure what I'm dealing with, but I'll continue to monitor & post back if there's anything useful to share with the DUC.

Cheers,
Matt

It's baa-aack. And annoying as hell. It's not the fan. I tried adjusting the voltage, doesn't help. Given that these things are $650 a pop, and this one is less than two years old, any chance it's under warranty?

Can't post video here, but I'll post it on the Eucon group on FB.

Well those are not the best engineered PSUs ever...
I have two MCs original silver version and I think we have had like ten or so replaced over the years.
That tiny inefficient fan is likely a part of the issue is my personal guess.
I have had some units totally short and burn out parts inside of them. Fortunately I don't think I have lost a SBC because of that though.
