BFD2 won't load the BFD3 content, as it's in a new format (lossless compressed for quicker downloads, smaller on-disk footprint & better streaming performance). At some point we may make available a tool to convert BFD2 libraries to the more compact BFD3 format. No ETA on that yet.

The BFD3 Demo will only load the sounds it comes with.

We won't be charging for Synth Squad & Geist AAX64. They're in the works now as basic maintenance updates. BFD3 was originally scheduled to be out a little in advance of PT11 but it took a little longer than planned.

No it doesn't. You can do the download on a different machine. Or get it on a USB stick.
What about Tremor and Etch?

Yes I did!

The issue had to do with both the Audio and Data folder in the original BFD 1 folder. Looks like this might be the issue that hits the old timers!!! Maybe have them add that info to the Known issues?? Took me a little bit to get everything else resolved from BFD 2 kits, JSD, EJB, AFJ, Fxpansion expansions, etc.

I think some of the issues for me anyway are coming from the fact I have been moving kits, audio, presets, and such around computer to computer and folder to folder for many years. For me personally, since before BFD 2 was released and it has continued since!! So I was getting doubles of some, missing others, had to link into my BFD 2 folder in my documents etc. But I have it all going now.

Thank You!! You have helped me multiple times over the years and I appreciate it!!

I gotta say, I am moving around BFD 3 FAST!! Some things are so easy, I was overlooking the obvious. I have most things figured out that is of concern for normal use.

The mixer is SO much cleaner and easier to navigate. Choosing kit pieces, kits, presets is MUCH quicker than previously as they are right there rather than going up to the load icon. Sorting individual kit pieces to view and or load is very smooth. Little things like choke groups are simpler. The new features such as cymbal swell and tom resonance are very simple to tweak. There is also a new "tweaks" view on the mixer that is killer!! changes the mixer view, instead of faders, get knobs for trim, tune, damp, for the kit pieces and change the distance and width of the ambient mics. VERY cool.

I have NOT got my Roland kit going yet and checking out how easy I can assign the key maps to a new kit, but it seems it will be as quick and easy as BFD 2. Editing the key map is way different from the drag and drop. Not sure if it is quicker than before yet. choose note on keyboard, select the kit piece, choose articulation, and assign. the new "keyboard" layout with its colors view for kit pieces and having it all visible is VERY much of an improvement.

I am quite happy overall other than the issues getting all my libraries going properly. It requires a little bit of different thought and some time. Overall I think it is QUITE an improvement and liking it.

Angus where do i go to find those library beats ?

Are they the loops on the groove section ?
Yes.

@Benoni Even though you can't load your sounds, the demo will surely be sufficient to figure out if the interface works for you. There won't be a charge for Tremor / Etch AAX, again, will be routine maintenance.

What I want to know is why did fxpansion go with such a screwed-up download setup? Why not just a simple one like with the upgrade from BFD 1.5 to BFD 2. Granted it was multiple parts but it worked just fine. You could download on one machine and install on another, keeping one's daw offline.

Angus - I find I like the interface as well just a few things that have thrown me also is the

key map loading
Loading a mixer by itself
And how fx looks at kit piece presets in 3

Other than that I really like it (I didn't even have time yesterday to learn more) this is just from the first days experience

One other caveat is it would have been nice to be asked where to download the content pence we clicked on the new license manager.....
- with the advent of the SSD internal drive space like that is a premium - I just barely had enough

You don't get asked where to download the content? What if you have your samples off on a separate drive?

Yeah after the license authorization I clicked on the downloads tab and it instantly started to download to my main OS install folder -

i.e. it did not give me the option to navigate.

However I was able to move that folder once it's finished but it did not give me the option to save it to another hard drive internally from the get-go

So it just downloads but doesn't install then right?
