Explain exactly what you're trying to achieve?

Ctrl+Shift+K = Export regions as files.

I'm going to (transfer) record a long live session from a cassette (porta studio) into PT. Then i'm gonna select regions and hope to export them as a wave file (?) instead of bouncing to disk.

is that feasible?

thanks

Yes, it's possible. Select the region to export, then use the keystroke Rail mentioned.

I also was curious about this. Is there a way to mix down a session (stereo intervieled) without bouncing to disk in real time? I tried CTRL/SHIFT/K but it mixes down each track seperately.

No. Would be nice, but isn't possible. Only way to turn a session to a stereo file is real time bounce.

this question came up at a recent presentation by a digi sales rep. apparently, given the architecture of HD, it IS NOT possible (and never will be according to this guy) to do a faster than real-time bounce with HD. however, LE's architecture contains no such limitations and it definitely IS possible with LE. PT though, unwilling to upset it's main customer base, has made a marketing decision not to add this feature to LE. i thought it was interesting as i always thought, with a PC based system, that faster than real time bounes would/should be possible. asked if it may be in the cards in the future, the digi rep said unless it becomes possible with HD first, forget it.

Mixes down? I thought this was an export wave file feature only. I don't believe there is any "mixing" or application of any RTAS effect to the exported wave file when using this feature. Although, I suppose one could use Audio Suite to permanently apply effects, then export the wave file.

I am very sad to hear that a real time bounce will not be added to LE. I love ProTools, but it is a real drag not having a quick bounce when doing long broadcast files.

Perhaps Digi could make a quick bounce for the HD system that would circumvent the card architecture and replace HD plugs with the Audio Suite version using the host processor so a quick bounce could take place. Even if it is not a full implementation for HD, it could be handy for HD users who need the feature. Then us poor LE users could get this valuable feature.

I have found Wavelab to be very good and fast at this ...I believe there is a lite version as well.
Most stereo editors support this feature..which I'm sure you already know ..I just wanted to point you to Wavelab if you haven't checked it out.
I have been doing this with old cassettes of mine.

all the best
