It’s not supported yet on Big Sur but I have been forced to install it on some systems running a Big Sur. Didn’t have any issues. You can give it a shot but unless there is a specific reason why you need Big Sur my recommendation would be to wait until it is officially supported.

Upgrade to Catalina (that's supported) and wait for support for Big Sur.
"May work" is not good enough ...

The bigger question is will your plugs and VIs work. Several run Pro Tools on Big Sur with no to few issues.

Sweetwater has a compatibility chart they are maintaining:

You'll want to check plugs, vi's, interface drivers, etc... Not all vendors are compatible yet.

Apparently, Avid works at a different time scale.

Generally speaking anything that worked well in Catalina should also run in Big Sur, but the big exception here are low level hardware drivers. You may try but probably need to wait a bit for support.

We had to upgrade one of our boxes due to another software issue and the only problem I have seen is with the import function. Files do not show up so we have to drag everything into the session itself. Not really a biggie for most here but im OCD so its killing me. Even typing this is driving me to drink. Definitely can't blame Avid.

I'm going to guess you have a file access permissions issue.

For starters check Security & Privacy > Full Disk Access
