Re: Clock issues with P12.8.3 and Scarlett 18i8
Switched Windows audio to built in sound card. Held "N" while starting Pro Tools and selected "Focusrite ASIO".
The "sample rate" on the dashboard is no longer greyed out, and no longer says "Ext Clock", so that's progress. However, the playback pitch and speed issues remain. Sometimes flat MIDI, sometimes fast or slow audio. Often, hitting "play" results in "AAE error -6009 was encountered". Whenever this error is produced, then "Setup / Hardware" results in a different error. "There are no Digidesign cards in the system". None of these problems occurred until I "upgraded" to 12.8. Any suggestions are appreciated. Ed |

Re: Clock issues with P12.8.3 and Scarlett 18i8
OK I have a productive workaround. Helpful suggestions put me on the right track. Thanks.
1 - Assigned built-in sound card the default Windows sound device, saving the Scarlett for Pro Tools use. 2 - Switched to ASIO4ALL (from Focusrite ASIO). Everything is running smoothly. All previous sessions are now running at the right speeds and pitches with no error messages. A few new sessions have sample rate issues, this is (probably) due to inadvertently recording 44.1 KHz audio into 48 KHz sessions. Mostly salvageable. I have a call in to Focusrite support. It would be nice to use the "Focusrite ASIO" driver again, or at least know what the issues are. Thanks again Ed |

Great you can work now .
In my case i dont use the Focusrite Asio Control . I set it up from the Focusrite Control Panel . And directly from Protools .

I have 1st gen Scarlett, so "Control Panel" is not an option. Some functionality is provided by the older "Mix Control".

Re: Clock issues with P12.8.3 and Scarlett 18i8
Hi, on my Safffire Liquid 56 and I have had on and off isues with loosing sync and not beeing able to change sample rate, locking up etc. All this while using mixcontrol version 3.7.
Yesterday i had time to I finaly upgraded to PT12.8.3 on win 7 between projects and while doing it remembered that when I had version 3.4 of mixcontrol everything was smooth, sooo, I decided to downgrade the driver and install the old one, then Protools. Man this did it, I guess the newer driver is more for win 10 than the older one. Look into this, may solve your issues. Best Carlos |
