samples
Can someone tell me why there are so many different sample formats(wav, samplecell, akai, etc)? It appears most samplers, soft and hard, accept the .wav format so it seems like it is the most widely accepted. Also, how does one buy quality samples, it seems like a crap-shot these days with so many CDs out there?

Re: samples
Hi Snapper
I think it goes without saying, . . . if manufacturers created a product that could accept any format sample CD's, they cannot guarantee the sale of their own product. But this is on the change. Namely the up and coming Wav. Don't forget you can directly import Wav into Pro Tools. No need for a sampler (if your dealing with loops that is). As for quailty sample CD's, . . . I can highly recommend Spectrasonics and Ilio. They really are worth the five stars most magazine reviews are giving them. The new groove control stuff is a prayer answered for a lot of us. Hope it helps. |
