Re: Ug, CPU overload on two-track recording a concert

But you should already have gone through all standard troubleshooting/optimization steps, and that includes disabling WiFi and Bluetooth, do every optimization step at once and see if it gets more stable. If you cannot work out how to get a wired keyboard/mouse for a test you have more problems than this..... Screenflow type things make the need to try out careful optimization even more important. |

Re: Ug, CPU overload on two-track recording a concert
Why do you suggest this? First time I'm hearing this suggestion! What's the issue?

Removing Chrome was one of many troubleshooting steps I went through to solve my -6101 errors. There was about a month between recording sessions for that Skype client (worked fine, a month passed, then multiple -6101 errors), so I tried to think of things I'd done during that month. One of those things was downloading Chrome. I have since removed it completely, which is to say I went folder-by-folder through my whole system, library(s), and home folders and got rid of anything Google. I also followed the long list of troubleshooting tips you can find elsewhere on the boards and, as I mentioned, bought Little Snitch to really shut down any non-essential network access while I'm recording. Since then I've had one -6101 error across four sessions, and it was the exact moment I moved my phone (Bluetooth on) from underneath my computer to a spot farther away. So... am I sure it was because of Bluetooth? No. Did I stop using my Magic Mouse? No. Did I turn off the phone's Bluetooth? Yes, and I keep it away from the computer when recording. It took me a solid week to track down the issue, and I still feel a bit on pins and needles when I'm recording that client. But I feel a lot better about it than I did before. |

Sometimes Ilok USB makes conflict with wifi adapters...
Move Ilok USB to another port, or buy a usb2.0 hub.

Re: Ug, CPU overload on two-track recording a concert
This may not help with finding the cause of the error and maybe this is obvious, but for live recording, it is always recommended to record to two separate and independent devices, mostly due to unexplainable and unpredictable glitches such as this.
Stopping recording in between songs can help, but you can also sometimes get the dreaded spinning beachball after hitting stop which can prevent you from getting back into record in time for the next song. Having two recorders can cover that situation too. And yes, check "Ignore CPU errors during record".

Ug, CPU overload on two-track recording a concert
I specifically like other software for this task.
I don't like to use PT in the wild (live settings) b/c I don't like to take my Ilok out of its cage. I used Presonus studio one artist, and Presonus capture both flawlessly, both on a studiolive mixer and a Behringer x32. Capture is super simple, artist is cheap, and waves also has a multitrack recorder although I have yet to hear anything about it...good or bad. And best of all, those other programs don't use Ilok....

Re: Ug, CPU overload on two-track recording a concert
I think the best advice which was already given is NOT to record to the internal drive. Avid states very clearly you should be using an approved external drive or a separate approved drive different than the boot drive
