Hey guys, can anyone say why pro tools is taking more than an hour and still going as I write this, to relink missing files even though they are all on one drive?
Thank for your time.

For some reason I've never had any luck with this feature either.

In the past I've had to create a new session and import the files back into it. A right PITA. Of course if I'd done a lot of editing I wouldn't bother doing this.

Yes, if you leave it open to search your whole system, it will take forever if it works at all. If you narrow the search down to where the files are located, it'll happen immediately.

If they don't relink immediately, refine the process by saying to link by name or id only.

Post the session and some audio files to Dropbox and I'll see what's going on when I get home tonight.

BUT let's try not to blame the DAW for the operator not making sure the audio files are in the session file folder that corresponds to the session. One thing I would double check is that you have "copy files on import" checked in your preferences. That SHOULD keep this from happening again. The more files that are "somewhere else," the longer it will naturally take to relink all of them.
