Default Odd latency issue - even when H/W Buffersize set to minimum

Hi there,

I have a really odd input latency issue. I am Running Pro Tools 2018.1 on Windows 7, with a SPL Crimson 1 audio interface. A full system profile is on the image attached, "Sandra pt1.png" and "Sandra pt2.png".

Here's in detail what happens (BTW this problem does not occur in other DAWs - Ableton Live 9 or Cockos Reaper) :

I set an audio track to record and/or monitor, while playing an instrument, and it works well for a couple of seconds. After that, I hear a glitch, and no more sound from the input.
I hear it back when I press Play though, but with A LOT of latency. When I record, the latency is recorded as well! I measure it and it's around 300 ms.

BTW, my H/W Buffersize is set to 128 - even set at 32 or 64 the problem occurs, and there's no delay compensation. See images attached.

Ever heard about this issue in a similar setup? Is it a SPL Crimson issue? Or a hardware compatibility with Pro Tools? The last Crimson driver is installed. Is it an issue that can be fixed by updating Pro Tools? I don't like updating if there's no problem with Pro Tools.

(Note that I can't tell if the problem was there with previous versions, as I mostly mix on Pro Tools in my home studio, this is the first time I tried recording.)

Thank you in advance for your assistance, I hope this get fixed quickly and smoothly!

Default Re: Odd latency issue - even when H/W Buffersize set to minimum

For anyone that has the same problem, Avid Customer Service responded a more technical answer, maybe that can help someone:

Quote:
Such issues with sudden glitching of audio when using low hardware buffer sizes (eg. 128 samples or lower) occur when the CPU is unable to send/receive the buffer to/from the audio interface. Once the glitch happens, it becomes "out of sync", causing the audio distortions during playback, and the loss of input (in some cases). It is mainly a driver issue with the audio interface, but if installing a different version of Pro Tools improved the situation, then you may stick to that for now.
