Default Random Pops after Catalina upgrade

I upgraded to Catalina and now am getting some sort of random clock issues. Pop/click type things during playback. I'm trying to figure out how to downgrade, unfortunately my last time machine backup was months ago. Any ideas how to fix this issue?

Clean install of just Pro Tools? or of Catalina?

What is a clean install of the OS? Does that mean erasing the hard drive and starting from scratch?

Yes, and no automatic migration whatsoever. Do it all manually.

Big lack of details here.

Well you did not upgrade carefully, but that does not mean that is the problem.

Common causes of pops is just not having clocking set up correctly, or using aggregate audio incorrectly and/or using aggregate audio without even realizing it... what exactly is your playback engine set to?

If you have external clocking etc. Double check all that is correct. You can test if the problem happens with Built-In Output as the playback engine (do not use an aggregate) and try uninstalling and reinstalling the interface drivers if the problem only happens there.
