One Fader "Clicks" until PT Session Opens

Hi,

I've got a problem with a fader. When I'm not running Pro Tools and all the faders are at unity - say when I'm monitoring from an external source like a CD player - one fader clicks aginst something in the board. The clicks occur about every second like the ticking of a clock. They continue when I open Pro Tools but they go away as soon as I open a session and the fader moves from thre bottom of the board. The clicking also stops as soon as I touch the fader.

I've run the tests referenced in the Control 24 Guide including Step Test, Cycle Test, Group Test, Touch Test and Fader Recall and everything checks out thought that particular fader seems slightly jerkier than the others.
Does this suggest the fader needs to be replaced? If so, how difficult a job is that? Can it be done without sending the board out of the studio?

Any info you guys can give me would be greatly appreciated.

bad fader.. I had the same problem. Quick call to digi, they fedexed a new fader which can be easily installed. CTRL 24 never left the studio.
