Default I have some damaged files....and.....

.....and they're causing crashes. I installed an upgrade 800 MHz G3 in my B/W G3 350 running OS 9.2.2 and finally got it working properly BUT had a bad crash during a write operation and now my machine is crashing every time I run Pro Tools off that drive. I've run Disk Warrior and Norton too but they didn't really fix the files. It will often freeze with the timeline still carrying on into eternity with no way to stop it. So I've searched the DUC but I can't find the info I want on reinitializing my external HD. I've backed up to CD the sessions I'm keeping, but I just want to start over with a clean slate. Could someone please give me the definitive way to do this. It's been so long I've forgotten. I thought I'd used "drive setup" but when I opened it, it said that my firewire drive was not supported. Well, I know I got around that before. Anyone?

I'm afraid I won't be much help. I tried upgrading my beige G3 266 MHz with a new G4 550 MHz processor, but I gave up. As near as I could figure out, some portions of the computer just couldn't keep up with the bump in speed. I ended up trading up to a G4 PowerMac.

As for your FireWire drive, do you have another computer you can plug it into, just to check if another Mac can see it? Disk Utility should do the job of reformatting. Could be a damaged drive somehow. Maybe start with Disk First Aid?

Another thought: try posting again with more about your problem in the title. The people who can really help you may be skimming past.
