Default Zero Uptime

I sure would like to use my Protools 11, but iLok.com is making
that rather difficult.

I hope Avid does what Waves did and dump iLok. I like using just a
regular USB stick

I used to accept iLok as a necessary evil .. now I consider it
an unnecessary nuisance. PACE/iLok's inability to do a zero
downtime website upgrade just brings the point home all
the more.

Avid already has a different dongly thing for Media Composer. Why
not dump both and go with a Waves like approach using conventional
USB sticks?

You're wrong. There is a zero downtime coverage but you have to pay for it. If you do, you get time-limited temp licenses during your issue. If you don't, well... Where's my free lunch?

Hi Jeff

I would also like to use my PT11HD but even if ilok was up I won't be using any PT11 until it is released

They have not been any problems with their site down for a long time and I can promise it will be up before you can use PT11

I believe you mis-understood my point. I was pointing out the irony of
a company offering a "zero downtime" service that can't upgrade it's
website without taking it down for two days.

I'm imploring Avid to consider an alternative licensing system.

Oh .. I was under the misguided assumption that the serial number
I received would somehow point me at a download page .. once I
got through the iLok fiasco

Oh well. I can't tell jokes that has been known for good a many years, but it seems I can't even tell when someone is joking

Nevertheless, I would also hope that PT could be authorized without a dongle. Would make it far more portable than having to worry about an extra stick. In fact, I have to thank Waves for their implementation, it works wonderfully, but if there was a similar system made by iLok and they had Waves back on board, that would be perfect for PT as well.

+1 to that!

Would like nothing more than using a "waves" kinda authorization thingy as it just "feels better" somehow

Has this society changed so much that everyone feels a sense of entitlement?

I remember discussing this in a philosophy class, back in 1977!!
It was a discussion on the impacts of the "Information Age"

I feel entitled to be able to use the thing I bought ... I'm selfish
that way
