PT 12 crashing waiting for EuCon to become ready

My system is some state where both EuCon and Pro Tools will crash on startup. Latest versions of both.

When EuCon works, it's great... when it doesn't it is a bit frustrating! The irony is that I just want to use my S3 for audio output right now, not as a controller.

Update: rebooting fixed it.

Another thing that seems to confuse PT is opening a session with a different sample rate to the one the S3 is set to in Audio/MIDI Setup, e.g. opening a 48k session when the S3 is running at 96k. (Yes, I know that's not yet officially supported.) Pro Tools loses communication with the S3 and a restart of the entire machine is required.
