Default Re: ProTools CPU spikes after CPU fan failure

I have heard some people say that doing a fresh Windows 10 install is different somehow than just doing the upgrade. Is there really a difference?

My experience, OS upgrades are always full installs and never overwrites. I always save an image of the previous and then incrementals of the new so I can easily start again, (eg. windows, windows+oem drivers, + pro tools, + plugins.) this way you have the ability to easily jump back and trouble shoot issues. You can also jump back and create a new major update like anniversary to creator. It takes discipline however you can split the dictionary quickly when trying to solve problems.

I'm intrigued, but also pretty confused as to how this process works. Can you point me toward a tutorial or something a novice can understand?
