Default Clear peak meter PC issues

Hi - I've recently moved from ProTools 10 to 2020 through work and usually when I'm automating my volumes etc when I mix my projects, it often use 'ALT + C' to reset the master channels peak meter so I can see when I'm not hitting peak on my mix... perhaps an odd way of doing it for some but works for me.

Anyway... I'm running into a bit of an issue on the new ProTools version where every time I hit ALT + C it tabs open the FILE menu up the top. ALT is a shortcut to tab up to the file, edit, view etc menus but I want to avoid this happening when I hit ALT + C to reset the peak meter.

Hopefully someone understands what I'm getting at here and has a solution or suggestion.

Thanks :)

Assuming you're using Windows (this doesn't happen for me on Mac), you'll probably have to disable the Alt function in Windows. This video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vRld4bVFrpU claims to have a script that will do this, but I can't verify that it works.

If you mean the red clip light, just left click it.

Hmmm, I'm running the latest version of PT here and Alt-c works just as it always has.

Really appreciate the replies.

Video of the issue here > https://youtu.be/jIHBfZah32E

In this video I'm editing and mixing my levels using automated volume control.
A clip happens while mixing so I hit 'ALT + C' which resets the master clip signal to remove the red peak light, then I go to hit space bar again to return to playback. HOWEVER when pushing 'ALT' it has tabbed up to the FILE menu...

Bar trying to disable the ALT function on windows... any other suggestions?

Running Protools 2020.5.0 and Windows 10 Pro

Damn wanted to try avoid disabling the ALT function as I like to use that to quickly tab to my Audiosuite plugins... I can't figure out why it worked on my old Protools setup and why it's changed on this version of PTs.

Damn really? So when you press 'ALT + C' it clears the peak meter and doesn't tab up to the file/edit/view etc menu?

Yep that works but it slows down workflow having to scroll the mouse over to the master and left click it every time it peaks will mixing the session...

Exactly. Do you have your keyboard set to a language other than English?
