HEAT- is it worth it?

Hi there

I tried the demo of HEAT when it came out and was not that impressed with what I heard, particularly bearing in mind the price. However, I now see HEAT for sale in various places- ebay etc for about $200 which makes it more appealing.

I would be interested to here from HEAT owners:

a) how much they use it?
b) is it a game changer?
c) is HEAT any better or worse than other tape saturation plugins including reel tape suite (which I already have)

In this day an age of having to look at saving one's pennies I need to think whether it's really worth my while even spending $200 on a plugin when considering what I have to spend if I decide to make the jump to PT 10 (I didn't go to 9 as there was nothing appealing in it) or HDX next year.

HEAT depends on TDM, but TDM will not be supported from Pro Tools HD 11.
In my understanding, Avid has not guaranteed anything on HEAT support after Pro Tools 11.

That is not true. They have said that they will, of course, be porting HEAT to AAX. HEAT is an integral part of the of the HD software and will remain the same with HDX.

So, are you saying that if you have HEAT TDM now, you'll automatically get HEAT AAX without having to buy it twice?
