Default Cannot change clock source

I've been a Pro Tools guy for years, but something has recently been troubling me.

I upgraded to PT10, still using my reliable 002 rack. I have a digital mixer that I have always taken 8 channels (via ADAT lightpipe) of drums from to go to my 002. Never had issues until the upgrade to 10.

I can't seem to get signal into Pro Tools via ADAT lightpipe. I have checked everything on my board and my I/O configurations multiple times. The only thing I cannot change is within the Pro Tools software, the clock source. While I believe (I cant really remember, to be quite honest), is that I always had the clock source set to ADAT, as opposed to "Internal", which it is currently stuck at. I can pull down the box that gives me the options of internal, ADAT, or SPDIF, but the software won't let me change from internal.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. After years of 18 inputs, I'm seemingly down to 10! Extra bummer because I just built a super nasty computer, and have a bookings lined up next week that will require more than 10 inputs. Thanks in advance!!!

If Pro Tools does not allow you to change the clock source, it could be a mis-match(IOW the lightpipe device is NOT at the same sample rate as the session) or maybe a bad connection(lightpipe ends are cheap plastic and they may not be inserted all the way, or check the "cable" for kinks). Might be worth buying another lightpipe anyway(I keep spares) Not sure if it matters, but you do know that lightpipe is only good for 44.1 and 48K with the 002?(not sure if your digital mixer allows for higher sample rates).

Well, I ordered new Toslink cables, and they came today. I'm really hoping that is the issue.

Don't forget to try the old standby of trashing prefs. Here's an app to help. http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=316863

I am having the same problem. I have Pro Tools 9, and it has been working great with the optical but it does not work now!
I was getting some digital clicks for a day then bam the next day it was not reading inputs 9-16. They show up but no signal and I can't record.
I even tried using a different digi 002, lightwires, and 8 channel A/D&D/A.

I have tried everything! Is it my computer? I'm running a Mac Pro Tower.

Frustrated.

Has anyone ever resolved this problem? I am having the same problem where each time I select ADAT, Pro Tools just defaults to internal. I have tried three different light pipes. I am using a 002 and trying to sync with Behringer ultra 8 ADA 8000. I have tried selecting both 44.1 and 48. I get nothing but clicks and scratches. I have tried making the Behringer a slave....it worked for a very short time but not without a hum. Now it's just noise and won't let me select ADAT.

I'm having the same problem with 003 and Motu 8 pre locking.
On my hackintosh side it works, but not on my windows 7 side.
Both units work alone, but not together.

Try setting your onboard soundcard as the default for Windows sounds/audio and using your MOTU for Pro Tools only.

I don't know that this is your issue, but audio jack auto sensing can be a real pita on Windows. If you don't have 1/8" cables plugged into the onboard audio jacks, Windows defaults to using the interface and there's no way to stop it. I snipped the plugs off of some old broken headphones and I plugged them into the onboard input and output jacks. This way I can have Windows be on the internal sound card leaving the interface alone for Pro Tools.
