Hear a source while in record mode but not recording

Hi There,

I've been searching around but I'm not sure I'm searching for the right terms because I can't find a solution sorry.

I can hear my guitar only while recording and when Pro Tools is not playing. But If I try to rehearse a line while Pro Tools is playing then I don't hear anything - is this normal?
- The track is in record mode
- Have tried toggling between input monitoring and auto input monitoring

Any pointers in the right direction or correct search terms would be much appreciated.

Option + K or go to the Track Menu and select Input Only Monitoring/Auto Input Monitoring. Only one selection will be visible.

That's what I thought too - no luck sorry.

I upgraded my computer a few months ago to Lion, maybe this is a PT8/Lion issue?
