Default Computer Requirements for PT8

It's time for me to upgrade my currents system. I've been racking my brain reading countless forums on PT compatibility. I've been looking at the following system. http://www.compusa.com/applications/...&srkey=syx3107
If the link doesn't work, go to www.compusa.com and search "syx3107". I was told they use Asus H61 motherboards. If not. Is there any kind of list that's cut and dry as to what motherboards/chipsets that are compatible that would help. Otherwise I'm going to be spinning my wheels for quite a while sifting through the choices. MagicMicro.com has quite a few choices for motherboards, but again, too many choices and not enough info.

I need at least 2 original pci slots (not express) for my firewire card and delta 1010LT.

Any help would be greatly appeciated.

Any off the shelf PC will be a crap shoot. Your best option is to either buy from a dealer that specializes in DAW computers(like sweetwater or RAIN) or build your own. The Pro Tools LE on Windows has some threads to look at, especially the one on i7 builds. Remember that this is "a constantly moving target" as hardware is constantly changing. The best bet right now seems to be a new Sandy Bridge E 2011 cpu on an X79 motherboard(if you got the bucks). A less expensive route is to go with a socket 1366 i7(950 and higher) on an x58 motherboard. Not the latest and greatest, but highly serviceable and plenty potent if configured properly
