I love the new midi window and if you use free plugins the v8 are a nice step up from v7. Playlist View (which I think is new in v8 and not in v7) is a big time saver especially on loop recording for me. I've also used the new Elastic Pitch Shifting a couple of times. I'm on LE assuming the same features with M.
It had a difficult birth (bugs) but seems okay now. Its not expensive if you can use the new features and wanna keep with PT.
As said above, check the forums based on your needs.
Mike.

I think it really depends on the age of your computer.

+1. Personally, I find PT8 to be a big improvement over PT7. I forget what the upgrade price was, but it was a no-brainer for me.

Aside from compatibility issues, yes, PT8 uses somewhat more memory and CPU. But, since PT8 is extended address aware, you can run 4GB executibles, whereas you're limited to 2GB executibles with PT7.
