Default Destructive Punch crashing in 10.3.x

When we are in destructive punch mode the PT 10.3.3 HD TDM crashes, sometimes followed by a kernel panic requiring a hard restart. We uninstalled protools 10.3.3 and updated to 10.3.5. The cards test out well. We threw out all preferences, and checked Ram allocation. Still no love.

All other record modes function properly.

Try turning off disk cache. Having it on doesn't really make a difference in performance but for some reason turning it off takes off some strain when bouncing.

Also open the system activity monitor and click apple-I on the PT app. If the virtual memory reaches 3.9GB stop the punch before altiverb loads the next IR because then PT will crash.

For some reason even if your session is hovering at 3.4GB the usage goes up to 3.9 when punching in. No idea why.

Then the only option is to punch into multiple stems separately.

Guess we have to hold our breaths till PT11 when this issue will finally end.

In my current session I can't bounce to 5.1. Stereo is maximum otherwise I'm out of memory after about 10-15 seconds.

I'll check this and get back to you. We are not using Altiverb and it is OK on one of our other systems.

I've been having the same problem - corrupt files and kernel panics after destructive punches. I just switched my Disc cache from "Normal" to 6GB, then did a torture test, haven't triggered a crash yet.

Was told to turn cache "off" - or that I may have bad RAM, but in fact turning it ON seems to be the solution so far..

PT HD 10.3.4 on Mac OS 10.6.8 Mac Pro 8 Core 2.26 Ghz 24GB RAM.
