Default Perils of audiosuite processing

I made a little video about the perils about audiosuite processing:
http://tamasdragon.com/2011/11/11/th...te-processing/
or hd video at vimeo:

I think it is important to understand that while we have these new features, they have their own pitfalls like shown it the video. Not really a huge thing, but can be a nightmare when someone editing for long hours and these things messes up the session.

Important:
1. If you use handles or whole file option, then the material in the handle area will be scanned by the algorithm no matter how small the clip has been trimmed. The same true for whole file processing.

2. If you would like to avoid these mistakes, there are a few things to consider. After trimming your clip, consolidate it.
Or
after trimming your clip, when you're just about to use some audiosuite process, choose the selection only option.

I applaud the new features, but they can be tricky.

I noticed that when I first tried to use Izotope RX2 Spectral Repair. I couldn't find the glitch I was trying to repair because there were four extra seconds of audio in the viewer! I also had to switch from "Mono Mode" to "Multi-Input Mode" to get it to process both channels of a stereo file (which I had never had to do before).

Yes, many times more options = more possible mistake.
At least for the time while we're getting accustomed to them.

I'm saying this in the most non-homosexual way, but I like your accent on your voice.

I'm hungarian and I had a native American teacher from early on, hence the strange mixture.

Handy info, thanks for pointing that out !

I'm trying to figure out how to render stereo effects in Audiosuite with multi-mono tracks, it was never a problem on PT8, but can't be done in PT10.

Nice tips, Tamas.

Unfortunately, the entire handles "feature" is a real bust for Avid.
It's a great idea, but it just doesn't work.

Any plug that has to analyze the audio has trouble, or so it seems.
That was the explanation by Matt Peterson at Avid.
However, this does not explain why Normalize does work with handles, but Gain does not.

Avid has acknowledged it here on the DUC, but has never put it in the "known issues" nor given any indication of when it will be fixed.

A major disappointment.

But thanks for your efforts, as usual.

Cheers,
kasper
