Re: 2012 Mac Mini, 32 and 64 buffers, HDN Latency
Good point about the USB drive (though I thought that was more about USB2 and USB3 would not be a problem)...
I transferred the session to an external FW800 case - with Intel SSD. Exactly the same result. Good point though!

Re: 2012 Mac Mini, 32 and 64 buffers, HDN Latency
Doh!
Yes, that's what I thought too when I tried USB3. I was getting crashes as well as poor performance to do with cmd S'ing at the same time as PT auto saving. I haven't had the same problems since switching to the external firewire drive, which is a Glyph drive and performance improved. Best, John

Re: 2012 Mac Mini, 32 and 64 buffers, HDN Latency
Reading this thread with interest - getting buffer underrun errors a lot. Just had to redo 10 minutes of recording..
Mac Mini 2.7 Ghz i7 8GB RAM OSX 10.7.4. SSD System Drive recording to FW800 external drive ProTools 10.3.5 on a Digi 002 Console. Also getting a lot of "Lost Communication" errors with the Digi002. Front end is a ULN2. I have yet to try, but may try bypassing the 002, using the ULN2 as the playback engine, as the 002 may be the source of the errors. JeffB |

Re: 2012 Mac Mini, 32 and 64 buffers, HDN Latency
Can't speak to the 002 but never any buffer underun errors with ULN8.

Re: 2012 Mac Mini, 32 and 64 buffers, HDN Latency
Have you tried just using the Mac built in input and output to see if you have the same issues?

Re: 2012 Mac Mini, 32 and 64 buffers, HDN Latency
Yes I tried it using built in. The system delay alone is over 300 samples. Anything less than 128 buffer (though that might have been 256) had loads of distortion. I did this before installing Metric Halo.
