Default Can\'t hear my MIC

Hey what'sup? i have a simple problem. im tryna figure out why i can't get my MIC to work for me. im tryna get the sound to come thru the interface but it's not workin. i've tried 2 different MICS. i believe it has somethin to do with my input output thing because i had problems with that for my speakers but got that worked out. any ideas?

What interface are you using? If its an Mbox, work the MIX knob. If its a condenser mic, make sure phantom power is switched on(and you are using a good XLR-XLR cable as phantom power does not work with a quarter inch plug). Then go watch all of the Accelerated videos on the main DIGI site, grab yourself a good manual from Barnes and Noble and even go to youtube and type PROTOOLS in the search bar for more videos. There is a learning curve here but once you get started, it will open up a fantastic world for you. Good luck.

There is a picture on page 31 of the Mbox 2 Mini Getting Started Guide that will show you where the button for Phantom power is located. And I bet if you'll spend a little time with that document your question about whether or not you need a mixer... and quite a few other questions you might eventually have, will be answered.

Not asking you to bury your head in the big manual yet, just the Getting Started Guide-- to help you... ummm, get started.
Page 35 explains, step by step, how to connect a mic.
Page 39 explains how to set up an audio track and route the mic signal into it.
All very basic concepts you're going to need to understand to use Pro Tools.
