No, it’s a confusing page that, the reg fix is to undo the hotfix as far as I remember...
If you PM me your email address I will email you the hotfix file...

Unfortunatly, that fix didnt work on my Swedish XP. It looks like I have to phone MS to obtain that fix..? Well, if thats the case I can manage without it since I havent any problems and really god results anyway. I read on MS web that a official version of this fix will be able in comming SP3. And the "phonefix" only should be used if u have performance problem.

At the moment Im running on a borrowed 2x1 GB kit of Patriot PC6400 800 MHz and I get 235 DVERBs with them. At the end of the next week we probably will know if the new mem rev will work.

Hi NickH! Thanks for the build info and "Welcome to the Core"

I only have the PDF'S so that'a what I was going by as far as the memory timing defualt settings.

I would suspect ASUS does it that way to make sure the system will boot. My old ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe defaults to the maximum memory timing values when you swap in new memory-even though its set to SPD and should be auto detecting them correctly

1066 and stability. Theres no reason we can't get these to run stabily at 1066, we will just have to expirement with the various timing settings. Worse case scenario is we all run 1066 at 889 and pick up a few Dverbs

AS I recall the XP Dual Core Hotfix has nothing to do with system stability or performance but fixs a high USB current drain in laptops and USB bus noise issue, I'll have to find out for sure and will post a link to the specs page if needed. EDIT: According to MS I am wrong......

When your stisfied with you systems stabilty and Dverb count I will post the results. the record test should run 5 mins also and I will change the intructions to say that.

MykhalC, The P965 southbridge actually does not natively support PATA any more (the 975X still does).

There is a JMicron add on controller that adds PATA compatibility for 2 PATA devices and also a additional pair of SATA ports that can also be configured as RAID. I specced a SATA optical drive for this very reason.

My thinking is unless your using it for SATA it would eliminate some potential conflicts to just turn off the JMicron controller in BIOS and just go all SATA on the hard drives and optical drives. The P965 southbridge supports either 4 SATA ports or on the models with Intel Matrix RAID up to 6 SATA ports.

Should be enough for PT!

I am a firm beleiver in turning off anything in BIOS that you aren't using.

Also anybody that is running a PATA drive off the JMicron controller give out a shout, I want to know what your using for optical drives PATA or SATA.

Just updated the Dverb list.

What model Seasonic PSU are you running?

What PTLE interface?

When you have a chance it would be good to get your actual memory timings from BIOS. Having a set of memory timings will help the new builder immensely.

There's going to be a lot of people wanting to push the button at midnight on the 22nd!

I check everyday just to see if there's been any wild price fluctuations again

I'm going to order my Mobo/Optical drive this weekend....It looks like the winner is ASUS P5B Deluxe WiFI AP.

I'm really looking forward to this build-its been fun updating the list.

also, SeanDerMan is usin' a PATA drive for his system drive with the P965. check his post out in your SPECS thread. he might even have it posted in this thread too.

thanks bro
